curb tool similar to the mline command

Autocad offers a handy Mline command, allowing users to craft Mline styles with specific attributes. One particularly ideal application of this command is in delineating on-site curbs. However, there's a snag: unlike the ease of inputting 'a' or 'c' to form arcs or curves when creating polylines or pressure pipes, this functionality isn't readily available for Mlines.

Introducing an upgraded mline tool for use in Civil 3D could be a straightforward enhancement with myriad possibilities. For instance, it could streamline the preliminary layout of sites by employing Mlines for curbs, resulting in substantial time savings compared to the use of fillets and offsets.  It could be rolled out as an update to vehicle tracking, but I personally believe it has a place right inside basic Autocad or Civil 3D.

  • Create an assembly that is just the curb.
  • Create featureline representing the face of curb.  Or you could use the top of curb if you prefer -- depends on how you design the assembly.
  • Create a corridor that uses the featureline instead of an alignment & profile.  You will effectively have a face of curb, top of curb, back of curb and anything else you want to hang off the curb i.e. sidewalk.

@doni49, Do you do use this type of corridor on a regular basis?  We've tried it a couple times.  The resulting drawings were a mess.  It's way too much for C3D to handle.  We've agreed within our company to never create corridors for curb again.  I figured that my idea was a simple and elegant solution.  The result would be basic autocad object that would be quick and easy to update.

@C_William_Lee No it was just an idea I had for a possible solution when I read your request.  It seemed like it should work to solve the issue.  But if you've already tried it, I guess that's it.
