It will be nice that Civil 3D have a turbo mode or lite mode, that is, a mode intended to make it work faster with big and heavy projects.
In this mode everything that takes lots of resources of the computer is turned off. That might be 3D views and modeling (make everything plan without orbiting capabilities), disable hidden views and automatic regeneration, show anything that slows the computer as a rectangle, etc.
Investigate if it is possible to simplify the civil 3D objects, every object should be represented by the minimal quantity of sub entities, that will take the minimal resources from the computer, and in the drawing database.
In this mode free RAM should be used as cache of processes that requires calculations.
Investigate and develop unleashing all the processing power of the computers, that is, use every core, and every graphic processor to speed up any task.
Have the option of a warning before any task that is time consuming.
