Autodesk should consider a program that incentives OEM such as US Pipe, CLA-VAL, Mueller etc. to create 3D object catalogs that can be loaded into the Pipe Network Catalog or Pressure Network Catalog. This means create specific tools for product manufactures who will utilize them draw their parts, perhaps use it to create the part on a CNC machine and also upload the part / catalog for designers to specify on their drawings. For the OEM to increase sales, they need to get their products on and within the design drawing environment.
I recently noticed Andersen Windows did an excellent job of incorporating a new product line into their web site whereby its posted as REVIT ready, 2D ready in plan and section view and technically spec ready too. Building typical parts is time consuming and not really built into anyone workflow process as a designer.
