Why does the Profile Tools and Alignment Tools grey out?

When working with alignment geometry, when I bring up the alignment tools dialog box, the different tools are greyed out.  This seems to be an intermittent problem.  This also happens with the profile tools dialog box.  The only way I know to fix it is to reboot the Civil 3D program, which is a pain.  Any ideas?

has this always happened? or is this new?
Same for everyone else in your office? or just you?

Your C3D year version as listed by ABOUT command inside the program is...?
And your Windows version is...?

I am using Civil 3D 2025 and Windows 10.
The problem is intermittent but when I notice it the only remedy seems to be a reboot of Civil 3D.

Are you possibly grabbing a Dref alignment?

The alignment I was working with is an alignment brought in from Infraworks.

There is no Xref connections in the drawing.  There are no data references either.

Hi @tt501613 , you can try by "Reset Setting to Default"

I am afraid of messing up the drawing up by doing that.  So I will leave it for now.

However, since this problem occurs quite often, I will give this method a try the next time.  If it works, it will save me a bunch of time.

I will also let the forum know if this works.
