Viewports moved when locked

Anonymous
Not applicable

Just again had locked viewports reset to 0,0.  I've seen that it might be related to dynamic north arrows, does anyone know if this is the case.  I have had them move on a number of drawings now and I do use the dynamic arrows.

thank you,

Just had a file, with five sheet tabs, each with one locked VPort.

All worked well.

Now, only one VPort is in the correct location - all others centered on 0,0.

VisRetain and UCSFollow okay...kind of a pain to reset.

Any new thoughts?

I am having the exact same issue.  The setting "VISERETAIN" is set to 1 and the setting "UCSFOLLOW" is set to 0.  Viewports in other layouts seem to reset to 0,0 after rotating the view in the current layout.  I would really like to find a solution to this.  Anyone have any ideas?

Ucsfollow is a per-viewport setting as far as i remember..had that issue ages ago. Especialy painfull if you copy the viewport 10 times ant THEN learn that 🙂
So, for each viewport, double click inside it to enter into model, then UCSFOLLOW - 0, set it up the way you want it and ext to paper space.
Rinse and repeat
Wax on wax off so to say 🙂

Is it written somewhere? Maybe. Does it happen in 2014 ? Yes with dyno arrows; especially if the sheets were made with PP tool.

My UCS is set to world in all of the layouts.  I normally don't change the UCS.  I am currently using Civil 3D 2016 and use the "Layout Elements" tools in the "Layout Tools" ribbon. So far it seems that the viewports reset to 0 after I copy a layout multiple times and rotate the view in each copy.

Sorry to open such an old wound, but was this ever resolved? This is the first time I've ever seen this happen, but I am also setting up sheets with the view frame group tool (plan/profile) with a dynamic(ish) arrow.

Hello all,

one last thought . . . .

viewports that are locked, with different scales in one drawing can cause the same problem.

saw this in 2014 and 2016.  and do not care to findout about 2018.

good luck

Still not fixed in 2023 version. Funny thing is that the preview shows the viewport correctly but switching to it resets it to 0,0. Thanks autocad I have to probably redo 50 P and Ps. Mine was triggered after a purge all command for what is worth.

My .dwg with 20 Tabs with one vport each containing dynamic north arrows all reset...but all the vports with no dynamic norths were OK.

Is there a way to save each vport location so I can just reset without having to pan by hand?
