SID Images transparancy

We are using SID aerials and would like to make them transparent. There is no setting we can find to do this. Anyone have experience w/ this format and know how to fade them back? Thanks.

Set a transparency value on the sid's layer. Make sure when you plot the plot dialog has Plot Transparency checked.

We used MAPWSPACE to insert them so there isnt really a layer that they are on. We were having issues w/a traditional raster insert due to conflicts w/ projections and that is what worked so we went with it.

Keep the images in a separate file with no other data. Xref into the working file and no issues. Bonuses - you have better perrformance with an xref and can plot with transparency. 🙂

That has potential. Can I fade just one xref? We have multiple references in that dwg.

I would try placing the xref on one unique layer and assign the transparancy to that layer. See if it goes. I normally only have a few layers with images so I set the value on each IMG layer.

If it's just the Image you're looking to adjust/fade, then create a separate xref as John mentioned & then the image can be adjusted.

The IMAGEADJUST command must be applied within the xref dwg file containing the SID images.

That didnt do it. When I xref the drawing w/ the aerial nothing shows up. Something to do w/ it being attached as data instead of inserted as a raster?

Your still using FDO (mapwspace) to insert the images. You need to use MAPIINSERT or Raster Design's IInsert. Yes two i's, for MapImageInsert or ImageInsert. These commands will geolocate the raster files to the dwg and insert them as raster data. Set the dwg coordinate system first.
