Selectable and searchable text in a PDF

Hi all,

I'm using an Autocad Civil3d 2014 version. When I create a drawing and I print it in pdf format, then I am not able to select any text that was inside the viewport.

I already found this solution on the forum: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to...

It seems that the problem is related to the variable "PDFTEXTRENDER", which value should be 1.

In my Autocad version, if I type PDFTEXTRENDER in the command line this message appears:

Unknown command "PDFTEXTRENDER"

Does anyone find this kind of issue?

Thanks.

I'm pretty sure that variable didn't show up until the 2015 version - thus your inability to find it in the 2014 version. You jumped through all of the hoops mentioned in the KB document and it still doesn't work? Are you plotting with the DWGtoPDF.pc3 or using Adobe?

Hi KirkNoonan, thanks for your reply.

Yes, I already followed the KB document and I'm plotting with DWGtoPDF.pc3.

The weird thing is that I can select and copy the text in the legend and in the title block, that are OUTSIDE of the main viewport. Any text inside the viewport become a raster drawing, so I cannot select it.

Are you plotting with Transparency turned on?

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I tried in both way (on and off), nothing changes.

I am almost sure that is something related to the variable PDFTEXTRENDER. I tried to set his value = 1 and actually this solves the issue on another Autocad Civil 3d (v2015). I think it should be something similar in my version.
