Section view and Profile view

Some of my coworkers are running PowerCivil and some Civil 3D.

What I noticed is that running PowerCivil they can very easly create cross sectiones or profile view by just drawing a line using it as an alignmnet and then including external references in any format dwg, dgn or ifc.

Objects like 3D faces or polyface meshes are no problem.

In C3D I have to create surface of 3D faces first or export ifc to solides, same for pipes before I can use them in a cross section view. So much extra work.

So my questions is if there is any way around this? Why is that so easy in PowerCivil but not in C3D?

I'm agree with you. I think that in that aspect, Bentley has an advantage.

If you want to "Project Objects to Multiple Section Views", it is not possible to project solids from a external reference (xref). The solids in the drawing take up a lot of space and it is more useful that they were in an external reference.
