Second quick access toolbar?

Good morning,

I have a quick access toolbar that I've used for years. I see that it's possible to create another quick access toolbar, but is there a way to make it visible in the CUI?

You have to remove the first from the workspace and then you can specify to use the new. You can't show two or more at the same time. I would love to be proven wrong because this would be a useful function.

Hi @civilman1957

Do you really need two quick access toolbars? Can you get away with just one?

You can’t display two QA toolbars simultaneously but you can add more commands to the original toolbar and achieve the same thing, albeit with only one toolbar.

You can get this 2nd Toolbar using the command MENUBAR and setting the value to 1.

As mentioned by others, you can have multiple Quick Access Toolbars (QAT) but a workspace can only display one at a time. This is so that your "DRAFTING" workspace has the QAT with those handy drafting tools and your "CIVIL3D" workspace has the QAT with those handy Civil 3D tools.

You could always create a regular toolbar and display that in your workspace if you really want another toolbar...

Hey Brian...yeah, I have multiple toolbars for various things...

It's no big deal, really, was just wondering since I can create a second one if I could also display it simultaneously...thanks for the reply...

I've always wondered why Autodesk doesn't add the layer drop down by default to the QAT up top. This is how I have mine setup. The "empty" space at the end is actually the LINETYPE command, but every time I load it into a new version of C3D it never remembers the icon. Probably because there is no icon associated with LINETYPE. I'm just lazy and don't go through the giant, non-intuitive icon picker for it so I just leave it blank now.

To add the Layer Dropdown do this:

1. In the Ribbon, Home Tab=>Layers Panel=>Right-click the 'empty space' next to your Current Layer=>Select Add to Quick Access Toolbar

2. The Layer Dropdown will appear in the QAT.Image-2Image-2

3. To verify, enter CUI on command line=>Expand the QATs=> Drill down to the options that are available.

Finally, change your Workspace from Civil 3D to Planning and Analysis. Does the Layer Dropdown remain? Or does it vanish?

Adding the Linetype dropdown can by doing this:

1. Switch to the Planning and Analysis Workspace=>Right-click inside the yellow oval=>select Add to Quick Access Toolbar

I have the layer drop down already in my QAT as shown in my screenshot. I don't know why Autodesk doesn't add that by default, though.

I don't want the linetype drop down on it as it takes up too much space. That's why I just use the command with a single button, even though I leave the icon blank.

Sometimes you'll see something on here that makes you feel dumb. I have however many years running this software and I didn't know you could add commands and controls to Quick Access Toolbar that easily. I guess I just never right clicked on Ribbon tools or, if I did, ignored the Add to Quick Access. I am really happy to see this. Big thanks @ChicagoLooper  😉
