scale between units

I have been struggling with an issue in  civil 3D. I typically start a project with importing from GPS or total station,  units are feet inches  fractions on the data collector.  In civil 3d it is decimal feet , cumbersome for me . If I change the units to architectural or fractions the entities (lines , circles or whatever I draw)  scale does not match. Changing the dim style to feet inch fractions , dimensions  are off. What am I doing wrong? What is the correct way to set up a drawing in C3D.

Hi George,
Civil 3D does not like architectural units, so keep your data collector and C3D in decimal feet.
Set your dim style to architectural and a scale of 1/12. Use the 'CAL command to enter lengths in feet and inches, like @caddie99 shows >>>Here<<<.

Oops, I should have said scale of 12 in your dim style. Like this:

I agree with @Pointdump . GPS and Total stations do not collect in Architectural Units. The Data Collector must be set to do the conversion. It should be set to output in decimal feet.
