RETAINING WALL AND GRADING SURFACE

I want to fill the area shown in green up to 608 feet using a retaining wall (6ft height) as shown in the diagram. How to create retaining wall and contour with civil 3d? Explain the order. 
please help.

This was my solution, see attached file.

 

I prefer to do my grading with corridors. 

  • Create alignment at the 608 line, create profile of existing ground.
  • Create alignment at proposed retaining wall location, create profile of existing ground
  • (optional) create design profile for height of wall
  • Create corridor assemble, linkwidthandslope (grading) linkslopeverticaldeflection (wall)
  • Build corridor, baseline of Alignment at 608 line, profile of EG
  • Set corridor target LinkWidthandSlope target offset Retaining Wall Alignment
  • Set corridor target linkslopeverticaldeflection to EG
  • Build Surface from Corridor, check for bowties, add radius to alignment corners if needed

If it’s going to be a modular block wall system you need to project down at the product’s batter slope. 

You need a cutoff swale above the wall to direct drainage around the wall for wall performance.

@m_kingdon Thank you for the advice. I want to know this. Is it not possible to grade the existing surface up to 608ft through a daylight in the retaining wall without drawing an alignment for 608ft?

The alignment is drawn at the existing surface contour at 608ft, so you are targeting the surface at the 608 elevation.

Why do you not want to target this line?  It isn't like your existing surface is going to change?

 

You could try modelling the corridor in reverse and use a LinkSlopeToElevation and set the elevation to 608, but I think this workflow would be more complex.
