Dear Autodesk Support Team / Civil 3D Community,

I am experiencing an issue with AutoCAD Civil 3D where I am consistently encountering an "unhandled access violation reading 0x005c exception" error. This error disrupts my workflow and prevents me from using the software effectively.

I have attempted several troubleshooting steps, including restarting the software, updating graphics drivers, running the program as an administrator, and checking for software updates. However, the issue persists.

The error message occurs [describe when and how it occurs, such as during specific commands, when opening files, etc.]. I am using [provide details about your system configuration, operating system, graphics card, etc.].

Could you please provide guidance or further steps to resolve this issue? Any assistance or insight into this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Sunil Kumar

In my experience, the program crashing with an "unhandled access violation reading ..." is Civil3d's equivalent to the old windows bluescreen. It happens sometimes, out of nowhere and there's nothing to be done really.

Does it happen regularly? Does it only happen with some drawings? What are the contents of those drawings?

Usually, keeping the drawing files clean, small and sensible helps in reducing the occurences. Restarting the computer and Civil3d regularly (avoiding sessions that span over multiple days) also helps.

If it keeps happening for empty, new files, a reinstall of Civil3d might be the way to go.

I've never read precise steps as a solution to this particular error.
