PSLTSCALE Sets itself to 0

I know this topic already has forum posts, but the "accepted solution" in those other posts has turned out not to actually work as a solution 100% of the time. So here's a new topic to try to get a final solution.

Anyway, at random times (switching to the layout, opening the drawing, when the sky turns gray and it begins to rain, etc.) PSTLSCALE will revert to "0" in Civil 3D 2018. In order to get things to print correctly, you have to manually set PSLTSCALE to "1." I have the latest service pack and bug fixes. Several coworkers have had this same problem, but it's hard to identify a pattern for when it happens.

It's been an issue for others on this forum too as you can find here: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-forum/psltscale-reverts-to-0-at-file-opening/td-p/7820533

Anyone have any updated solutions that will work 100% of the time?

Or at least maybe a solution that works 60% of the time every time?

Thank you,

- Shawn

Same issue here - I have tried a number of solutions and haven't found anything successful.

Similar problem but instead of putting the LTSCALE=1 in the ACADDOC.LSP, I put it as a macro on my Plot button on a custom Toolbar. When I hit the button to plot a tab it sets LTSCALE to 1 and regens first.

I have not been able to confirm this, but I have a theory that the moon cycles may also factor into the PSLTSCALE problem. Full moons may have an affect on whether PSLTSCALE sets itself back to "0."

The I uninstalled Rivers and Flood Analysis module and now the drawings that were having that problem are working properly

Hi @sbsomers

we will investigate your theory about moon cycles 😉

Nevertheless the current status is that River Analysis resets PSLTSCALE to 0. The issue has been escalated to the development team for a possible cause and resolution. Be patient, the problem will be hopefully fixed in a very short time.

So far the idea presented by @jroot seems to be a good workaround.

Has the issue with River Analysis reseting the PSLTSCALE to 0 been resolved??? This is happening again and again to me, and is quite frustrating!

Throwing my hat in the ring too.

It's still happening to us too. We set PSLTSCALE to 1.

Publishing through the Sheet Set Manager, it sets back to 0 and the prints are adversely affected (no linetypes).

Sometimes just saving the drawing sets the PSLTSCALE back to 0.

Escalated in 2018.  I am sure a solution is just around the corner!!!!

Not fixed in 2020, so I keep 2019 around just for River CAD.

Why wait for Autodesk? There are many automated ways to reset a variable in any AutoCAD variant except for LT, including loading a simple Lisp/Reactor or the hard way through SYSVARMONITOR command.

LISP forum to coding help is here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/visual-lisp-autolisp-and-general/bd-p/130
Or if you prefer other coding methods, those forums are here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-customization/ct-p/AutoCADTopic1

I have it set in a Lisp.  It is unclear when it happens, so having it set in the acaddoc does not help.  It also occurs during Publish.

To be honest, I don't really feel the need to fix other peoples problems.  We pay quite a bit of money every year to use the software.  My feeling is that it should work, and not be up to me to fix.

It was logged as a defect, they should fix it.

Thanks,

I've started noticing it myself - I think it may relate to an original drawing / template that was used for a new job I'm working on. Now every time I open those drawings, they reset the PSLTSCALE to 0.

Perhaps a starting setting in the drawing / template?
