Profile pipe label disappears when portion of pipe outside view

I have pipe labels in profile views that show correctly when the entire pipe is in the profile view, but when the profile view station is shortened and even the smallest portion of that pipe is outside of the profile view, then the label disappears. It reappears again if the stationing is reset to include the whole pipe.

This only started to occur when I used a reverse version of the profile view style. This doesn't occur in the regular station Left-to-Right version of the profile view style.

I can't seem to figure out what is causing this. Anyone with a greater knowledge of profile views and pipe labels have any ideas? I have included two images and the CAD file showing the issue.

Thank you.

What happens if you anchor the label to the beginning or end of the pipe instead of the label location?

I must confess, I don't see the option to anchor the label on either end of the pipe. The only option to anchor the pipe label component is to "<Feature>".

I'm not sure why, but it's something with your profile view style. If I import the "Full Grid" profile view style from the default template, change it to "right to left", and apply it to your profile view, the labels come out right.

I'll keep looking and see if I can find anything.

I was able to narrow it down a little bit more. If you set an Office Axis to the right in the profile view style, the issue shows up. If you set that value to 0, it goes away. I was able to replicate this issue in one of the tutorial files that ships with software. I would recommend creating a support case with Autodesk so they can get this logged as a defect to be fixed.

Yes, I noticed that, and noted it in the CAD file. I can't for the life of me understand why. I'd just ignore it and move on with only the Left-to-Right style, but unfortunately many road sections in a current project require a Right-to-Left profile view... For now I've just exploded the problem areas to work around, but a true civil 3d solution would be wonderful.

Civil 3D label styles could be a master's course unto themselves!

Wow, to think I stumbled on a defect.

I will do that. Thank you very much!

This is just a workaround solution, but it's fast and does work. Simply add a null structure to the pipe at the station dividing the two profile views. Now you have two pipes, one in each profile view, and they will label exactly how you desire them to. It's quick and easy, unless you have miles of pipes with many crossing between profile views, in which case it becomes burdensome.

Another solution is to increase or decrease the end station for the profile view (depending on which end of the profile view the pipe crosses) until you can see the entire length of pipe that you want to label. Now apply the appropriate label, drag it back so that it is within the station boundaries you need, then change the PV stations back to the original setting. The label will now be visible in the profile view.

You can do this with the other profile view as well, but my original suggestion of adding a null structure instantly solves the problem in both profile views.

I just tried adding a null structure in the file that James supplied and that last (first?) pipe still isn't getting labeled.

Additionally, how would you go about getting the correct length of the pipe in the label? Using spanning labels? But if the second part of the pipe isn't in the profile view, how do you select it to span?

Not sure why the pipes aren't labeling after adding the null structure... it works on my pipes that are crossing profile views. The question about labeling pipe length is a good one, but there is no answer save living with the length of the shortened pipe in each profile view. (At least, that I am aware of.)

In my experience, no agency has ever commented on that issue, nor have any contractors been confused by it. Unless it's a hard and fast standard at your company, I wouldn't consider it a problem. But, I do not know of a solution other than living with it.

It looks like if you move the label far enough to the right the label shows up again. You can see it in this video:

I also showed how to anchor the start or the end of the pipe using a Flow Arrow and then anchoring the text component, but it doesn't look like it's necessary in this case.
