C3D 2019.2 Win10
We hired a consultant to set up the city with templates, etc. The survey template has several predefined point groups. They are copying themselves by adding a numeric suffix and so, even though I have only a few point import operations, and only 21 total points, I now have over 100 point groups in the dwg. Many, like in the screen capture, are empty. There are not sanitary points at all. Where is the setting to keep point groups from propagating?
The usual cause of this type of numbering is copying and more particularly pasting objects. In you case points. However it doesn't sound like that. Do you insert drawings that already have the defined point groups in them?

You could test that by running Drawing Purge on the drawings. It should strip out any DGN data.

I didn't write it, but neither have I found out who did or I would give attribution. I will say thank you, because it helps us a ton.
