Plan Layout Disappeared from Layout Sheets created from View Frame Group

I have a roadway project where I created Plan and Profile Layouts from View Frame Group. In those Layout Sheets the Plan portion has disappeared leaving only the Profile Layout. The View Frame is still in the Drawing. How do I recover the plan layouts from the View Frame Group??

ok, the drawing is still there - just shifted to 0,0

check the view rotation and set a view for the correct plan view area.

and kill your dynamic north arrows - on ALL the sheets and in ALL other projects dynamic north has been used.

the drawing will be fine for awhile and then BOOM - you open the drawing and your plan view or views are gone.

and TELL EVERYONE where you work.

there are multiple post about the north arrow problems

not sure which release will fix or has fixed this problem

Besides removing the north arrows, how do I get the plan portion back with match lines and match line mask?

ok, this is an interesting problem . . .. .

1. copy your plan view border (anywhere does not matter)

2. add the start and end stations for each plan view

3. you can use the north arrow to rotate you plan view border

4. use CHSP (changespace) to move your plan views into model space

5. align the plan view with your model drawing

6. use DVIEW to rotate the model, to match the first plan view border

7. use V (view) to create a named view for the plan view

8. Repeat steps 5, 6, and 7 - for each sheet plan view.

9. go back to your sheet tabs

10. unlock the viewport, and go to model space in the viewport

11. use V (view) to set the current view

12. go back to paper space and SAVE!!

13.  adjust any text labels that are off

14. repeat for each layout tab.

not much fun - but it works!!

hard lesson learned - I have the same problem where i work; seems some techs will not change

even when they had this problem multiple times . . . . .

dynamic is great for some items, but the two that should work out of the box (otb) don't : ((

good luck

Couple of questions on your procedure.

1. What are you referring to as "Plan View Border"? The View Frame in the Layout View? The Titleblock in the Layout View?

2. What do you mean by adding the Start Station and End Station?

1.  yes, the plan view border would be the view frame in the layout view.

2. an aligment station to help get the view frame at the correct location.

( If you are using an overall view - use a label, or some identification location point to help locate the view frame)

you can use the sheet layout tools - just remember create a named view for each plan view!!

and then kill the dynamic north and scale.

good luck

If I understand you correctly, I will be manually setting up the plan in this view frame. I can move the plan into the fame and align it with the View Frame Group Frames that are visible in the Model, and the Stations by the Match Lines in the Model, but that leaves me with the Match Line Mask. There is no way to create this without the "Create Sheets" command.

i do not use the "Create Sheets" command.

ok, you said there are View Frame Group Frames visible in Model - GREAT!!!!

so you will not have to create the view frames from paper space.

just use DVIEW to rotate a single view frame to match the rotation for the view in your layout tab

and then name the view to using the view frame corners to set the view.

go back to your layout tab, select the viewport and go into model space and use view to correct the problem

and you should have everything line up correctly - if you use the View Frame corners for you named view.

this is so much easier.

This is my wish list item: plan production should create saved views so this bs would be a nuisance instead of a royal PITA
