Pipe end location

I have set and applied a rule to have pipes connect to the inner structure wall. However it looks like the pipes are still connecting to the center of the structure. I tried moving the pipe itself to the inner structure wall in plan view but my profiles became messed up (see attached image). How can I fix this?

Have you moved the structures after creating them? The pipe end location rule is applied when drawing the pipe network, but moving a structure afterwards will cause the pipes to snap back to the center. You have to re-apply the rule to the pipe (right click pipe -> Apply Rules).

And just to confirm, the pipe end location rule is for pipes only and not structures.

Hello,

Can you provide a screen clip of your pipe rule tab for one of the pipes or better yet your dwg so we can take a look?

Cheers,

Rule looks correct, but @mzjensen has some good points that you may want to double check on your end.  Without seeing your dwg, it is hard to tell what is going on.  However, I would start with disconnecting the problem pipes from the structures, then reconnect and manually "reapply" the pipe rules.

hmmm....I can't seem to open your dwg with either C3D18 or C3D19.  Sorry.

I'm not sure exactly what the issue is, but I was able to get it to work. Here are some things that I noticed:

  1. There seems to be something strange with that Type "E" inlet. The structure properties show an inner structure width of 1.25'. The style for the structure makes it look larger because the plan view style is set to display a user-defined block. If you change this to use the outer part boundary instead, you will see that it is much smaller. So Civil 3D might have an issue trying to connect a 24" pipe to a 15" inlet structure (see attached).
  2. I tried swapping the part to the same Type "E" inlet and the part size jumped up to 4' inner width, which seems to be what you might want. Maybe there is something messed up with your current structures?
  3. After swapping the part, applying rules still didn't work. However, if you move the structure somewhere else and then move it back to it's original position, applying the rules will work. I don't understand why this is happening.
