I have two layers, one contains entities representing every road in the County. The other one contains entities representing only major roads (arterials, State highways, State freeways). What I want to do is erase all the lines on the 'every roads' layer that duplicate a major road on the 'major roads' layer.
I've tried using OVERKILL but it's not working. Where it finds a duplicate line or polyline on both layers, it randomly deletes it from one layer, or from the other layer, so end result is a patchwork where only some pieces of the duplicate roads are erased. I want it to only delete the duplicates from the 'every roads' layer. And I want it to delete all of them, not just pieces here and there.
I tried locking the 'major roads' layer but it still just deleted some of the duplicate linework from the 'every roads' layer.
I bumped the tolerance up from 0.0001 to 1.5, no difference.
What am I missing, or is there a better command? A way to do this in MAP maybe?
