Offset survey points with new point numbers

I imported points by using 'points from file' and need to offset about 15 ft(or any distance) to straight north(or any direction) for the construction staking points.

I need to export the new offsetted points into the survey machine again. so it need to have Easting northing elevation points still.

When I tried to use 'offset' command, it won't let me select the points.

How do i do that?

Points cannot be offset.  Depending on your situation you can do this a number of ways:

Create an alignment through the points and then stakeout to the alignment at your desired offset.  Or manually create the offsets in CAD using simple lines or circles or whatever method  you prefer and then set new points at each of the offsets and then export those points.

A different approach.

IF the points are not in the survey database:

IF a series of points are in a straight line.

Do this:

Toolspace --> Settings --> Point --> Edit feature settings --> Update Points (change from false to true)

Offset that straight line above the distance you want. (maybe 15')

Select all the points in the straight line.  Move from the tip of the line to the tip of the offset line (This will give a 90 degrees to the first line).

I know you true "died in the wool surveyors" may not like this but it does work.

@wfberry , Yes for us die hard surveyor types it really sucks that after 20+ years we still cannot get a simple routine to do something really simply without lisp or 3rd party apps.

I offer this for the OP, if its on a tangent then just offset the line and copy the points you have to the new location, it will take care of the "renumber part" on a curve your calculating it.
