mulitple EX Ground Profiles in one grid

I would like to create on Alignment for the Baseline of Construction for my project - this being the Centerline of the proposed road. I would then like to profile this line and create the grid and line. Then I'd like to profile the existing ground at each proposed edge, because we often have
existing conditions to match into. Is there a way to do this in Civil 3D. I've worked w/ other design software that will allow you to draw a polyline
anywhere on the surface and it will create a profile from the surface and stationed off the proposed alignment "baseline of construction". I'd like to be able to profile from any polyline on my within my surface (say an existing porch) and display this on one grid....

Attached is any image of the existing ground at proposed centerline, right and left edge of alleys existing ground, and an existing pad
I had to match,, for an example

.Thanks for any help....

Option 1
1. Turn the edges into 3d polylines or feature lines
2. Use the project objects into profile view tool (2010)

Option 2
1. Create an alignment foe each edge
2. Create a profile and profile view for each edge
3. Use the superimpose profile tool

If the edges are parallel to your alignment, when you create a surface profile you have the option to also to extract profiles based on offsets.

Thanks for the reply. We just upgrade to 2010 and the project object tool is what I'm looking for. It seems to only
pick up the elevations where you snapp to contour line or TIN in the drawing. Is there a way for the new drawn line to
cut a profile through the TIN so it contours the new line like it does the alignments (picks up every elevation along the TIN)
Thanks....

You can do option 1 in my original reply or turn that polyline into a
feature line and apply surface elevations to it (remember to "Add
intermediate grade break points". Then project it.

If you'll use a feature line and drape it to the surface, you'll get the
full display you're expecting. Do this with the Assign Elevations option
during the creation.
