inserting a block not working

When I insert a block, I can see it in preview but when I pick a point it disappears.  I tried changing insbase and insunits but it still doesn't work.  I can't even copy and paste.  It happened before and restarting my computer worked but this time I can't get it to work. Please help!

If you open the block in the block editor, is the block located close the the origin or is it out in space somewhere? If it is not at the origin move it there from the expected base point.

Of course you could also simply zoom to the drawing extents and see if the block has a bad insertion point. If the block is out in space you will need to edit it as described above.
