IFC 4.3 update 2 add-on with Civil 3D 2023 : Files arent openable with Autodesk product HELP !!

Hi,

We're trying to share our design to our Revit folks by exporting our pipe network into a IFC format.

We're all using Civil 3D 2023 with the IFC 4.3 Update 2.

As soon as we try to link the IFC in Revit or Naviswork the file is "Unable to open".

When we redo the same process with Civil 3D 2024 and the IFC 4.3 add-on on 2024 the file is recognizable.

Anyone has a clue how to make this work or have experienced this ?

Consider updating to Civil 2024 or 2025. Create solids and use the commands IFCINFRAEXPORT or IFCINFRAEXPORTSELECTED.

If it helps you, please don't forget to mark this reply as an ACCEPTED SOLUTION

Hi @paulo_santoso  !

Unfortunatly our production version is 2023 and cannot go by 2024 or 2025.

On another note we've been able to export it with 2023 but the renderign isn't optimal :

And the positioning either even if we use the shared coordinate
Even tried all the possible coordinates

Unfortunately, I don't have Civil 3D 2023 installed on my computer. Could you please share your .dwg file so that I can better understand the issue?

I'm a bit tied up right now; can't share that information.

I think right now the exportation works but it's the importation on revit that doesn't work properly

Hi @paulo_santoso

I finally found out why the file wasnt openable with Revit.

In the "IfcInfraConguration.json" file (That's can be generated with the tool), the file version of IFC is exported as "IFC4X3_ADD2" by default.

We need to edit the config to change the IFCVERSION to "IFC4X3" that is supported with revit :

Hope this helps anyone in the future
