Icon in the upper left corner

I have never noticed this icon in the upper left corner? Does anyone knows what does it mean? In my opinion it symbolizes something related with data shortcuts, but as I said, I never noticed it before and wondering am I right. Please find an attached image below.

It's Level of Detail set by View > Views > Level of Detail

Yes - It's supposed to reduce visual clutter when you are zoomed out and more detail becomes visible as you zoom in - I don't use it personally as I find it a bit annoying...:)

It would be much easier  if explanation note would appear when you hover your mouse above that icon.
