HI!

I need to assign elevation on "Text" object to the "Block reference's" Z value. Anyone know how to get this done?

Thanks!

What I need is, Assign the Value written in the Text object to the Block Reference's Z value. The symbol(Block reference) will be added to the surface not the "text object".

Thanks!

Hi Krish,
The problem will be that the Text Insertion Point probably isn't the same as the Block Insertion Point. Does the Block have Attributes? Let's see what you've got. Can you post your drawing?

Curious question. the text has a marker in a different xy from the block. why?
DATAEXTRACTION and express attribute in / out will get you there

If you could post a drawing with a couple of the text/block combinations. It would help us to see what can be done. A lot might depend on how close different text/block combinations are to each other.

Another question. Is the direction and distance between the text insertion point and the block insertion point constant.

I haven't used the Map tools for a while so I don't remember the workflow, but there is a way to assign text values to nodes using topology tools. That might trigger some ideas if anyone uses those tools. I'll see if I can refresh my memory when I get some free time.

If the distance is constant global move the text from insert to insert then DE is a piece of cake

Actuall assigning the text elevation to the block Z would take quite a lot of work. In the end you would probably have to reinsert all the blocks anyway.

Why don't we concentrate on what you want to achieve. Are you trying to create a Surface?

Ok. I reread the thread and see you are looking to create a Surface. The best way is to make a copy of the drawing, move all the text insertion points to the block insertion points, Move the text to elevation and create the Surface from the text. Then you can copy or DRef the Surface wherever you want.

I've done this many times. There are variations where after moving the text. you can create a .CSV file using Data Extraction and use that file to create the Surface or use that file to import Cogo Points for the Surface.

A lot might depend on how close different text/block combinations are to each other.

Or maybe expressed as 'closer to the correct matching object than any other candidate'.  Results of TEST.dwg attached.  If the OP had posted ALL their points, I would have posted ALL the CogoPoints.

The saddest thing is that it look 15 seconds to convert the points, this is my 4th try (using 2 browsers) posting the results in these forums.

I have 100 of those in the original dwg.

I have 100 of those in the original dwg.

And if you had posted them you would have 100 CogoPoints ready to move on.  A hundred would have taken <20 seconds to process.
