How to delete empty surface

Anonymous

There are some surface built by mistake. They are empty. I could see the name of them in the toolspace, but when I write click their name, there is no DELETE option there.

Because they are empty, I couldn't display them on the screen and delete. So how could I delete them? Thanks

Hi @Anonymous, If you right click on the surface in prospector and choose SELECT out of the list and they move your crosshairs away from the palette over the drawing area and hit the DEL button on the keyboard it will delete the surface.

Thank you but it doesn't work.

The log says :

Command:

_.erase 1 found

1 was not in current space.

Any other ideas?

You need to be in model space when you do it

I would suggest that you please try again from the model tab it would not say 1 is not in current space otherwise. Unless you accidentally created the surface in paper space and I don't think thats possible.

If the surface is referenced by another civil 3d object you will not have the option to delete it.   Examples: a profile, pipe, structure, corridor, grading, or if the surface is pasted into another surface.

I use the method above and it works regularly for me.

Make sure that the surface is not referenced by another surface, or a profile, grading, etc. If it is you will need to remove it from the applicable definition.

If you use the right click select method in prospector and then move the cross hairs away from the palette and over the drawing area and hit the delete key it will delete the surface EVEN IF IT IS REFERENCED in a profile, cross sections, volume surface, etc.  So one should use caution and be sure they don't need it anymore

Good point! I should've added in my previous post that I only use the right-click-select then del option if the normal method for deleting a surface is unreasonably not available.
