How to connect a 2D elevational plane to a surface

Hi, All

I am new to civil 3D and have recently been assigned to generate Cut and Fill Quantity Analysis. But I am struggling to create a continuous profile as I don't know how to connect a 2D house plan (contains elevation) to proposed site level.

Here I have attached 3 screenshot, the first one is the comparison between Existing Gourd (E.G.) to Proposed Gournd (P.G.). The second one is what I want to achieve in profile where is the house level that presented in 2D is able to connect with P.G., so I can calculate the cut& fill volume. The last one is what the plan looks like.

Thanks in advance

Ethan

For your house footprint, I would create a feature line which represents the house pad, assign it an elevation, and then add that to the FG surface.  Its hard to go into details without the drawing, we can't see what type of data you have in your surface.

Hope this helps!

Also, is there a way to create mass feature line? As this project is likely to hold about 400 houses, Creating one by one seemed time consuming, sorry if this question sounded too amateur

I can get to open your drawing but the Pad(s) need to be added toi the FG as @brian.strandberg stated.

If you are getting garbage then there are probably conflicting site objects in the drawing canvas.

HI, Brain

I think you are right and thanks for your quick response, the origina house pad  was Polyline which was copied from AutoCAD, and it never occur to me that PL don't connect with surface, now i see it.

Just another question, when I try to generate feature line from object from house pad, of which contains single elevation throughout, but the generated feature line still contains slopes. even if I choose to assign the elevation, it still gives me sloped house pad. Is there a reason for it?

Thanks again

Ethan
