How do I turn a background map on and off?

Anonymous
Not applicable

Background: I'm working on a Transportation Design Course group project to design a roadway. The professor requires submission in dwgs. Sadly no one in my group knows AutoCAD and I am trying to learn it on the fly.

The attached project has a background map that I would like to turn on and off, but I don't know how it was attached/referenced/aligned. Can someone give me a hint!?

Thanks,

Erica

If you are talking about the Bing map you can turn that off by going to the Geolocation ribbon at the top of your screen and changing "Map Hybrid" to "Map Off".

If you are talking about the \topo map_rot.jpg then you can turn that off by typing XREF and in the xref window selecting that file and right click and "Unloading" (if you want to keep it in the drawing but just not have it visible) or you can just select and delete (or detach) if you don't want it.

For regular raster files or georeferenced images such ans Geotiff or JP2 files. Select the image frame and in Properties turn Show Image off or on. This doesn't involve unloading. You can also add that option to QuickProperties if you use it.

I can't open your drawing because it's in a higher version of what I use. If you can't figure out what it is. Try listing it and posting the result.

Dear Friend,

You have two options.

First one is similar to Allen's post. Select image and then turn it off from the ribbon.

Second is select the image. Right click and hide selected object. To turn it on again you can go to end isolation.
