Grip issues with Civil 3D (and Map 3D) 2018

This is more of an FYI because it's a known issue on the Map 3D forum (https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-map-3d-forum/grips-bug-with-map-3d-2018/m-p/7028919/highlight...).  But as you can see it's happening in Civil 3D 2018 as well.  In this video I cannot add multiple vertices to a polyline in Civil 3D 2018:

...also noticed identical issue with mleader objects - if you have an mleader with (duh) multiple leaders, select it, hover over an arrowhead grip and the menu comes up allowing you to 'remove leader' which you do and all is fine, but when you hover over another arrowhead grip - nothing. The same regen trick 'RE' that Jeff_M mentioned also works in this case too.

haven't seen a resolution to this - have i missed it?

I saw in another thread @user181 post a link to a fix for this. I installed it and can verify that it has solved the issue for me.

Does the same hotfix work for c3d as well as map?

Edit: I can confirm that it DOES in fact work, sorry.

Jason,

Does this Map fix work for Civil 3D, or is there a similar fix for C3D?

Thanks, dude! -teej

Have you tried the hotfix that is linked higher on this page?

We have recently updated to C3D 2018 and are still finding this to be an issue. We're tried the patch noted above (the HOTFIX.arx file) and it's not working for us.

Are there any other updates on this?

This the only solution that Autodesk has provided.  If this didn't work then verify your system specs and graphics card are both on target with Autodesk's recommendations:  http://www.asti.com/autodesk-system-requirements-graphics-cards/

@TJBrace132, sorry for the late reply here.  Yes, this fix should work for both Map 3D and Civil 3D.

This is still a problem. I just purchased 2018 and I can not add multiple points to a polyline. I downloaded both updates for 2018 and still no fix. How did this happen???? It worked in my 2014 version. Do I need to revert to an older version. Crazy with as much as we are all spending on this.

I posted my last message without having seen the "hotfix" above, so I downloaded the hotfix and read the "read me" folder attached. It said to put the attached file "AcMapFeatureEntityUI.arx" into your Map3D program folder. Of course it says nothing about Civil3D (I only run Civil3D because I have no need for Map3D). So, I pondered whether I should put this file in my Civil 3D folder which does not contain any folders named anything close to this (the instructions say to back up the existing AcMap...arx file before replacing it). I decided to take a chance and just dropped it in (that tells you how obnoxious having to select and deselect a polyline ten times to add 5 measly points can be). Well, low and behold, it worked, at least for me. Not sure if it will work for everyone, but I have had success (so far).

AMAZING! This worked. That was the missing step!

Thank you so much (I'm the office hero!)

Remember, Civil 3D is built on top of Map 3D.  So this is no missing step.  You still need to add it to the Map 3D portion of the software.

until I moved the file to the C3D folder it wasn't working for us. It's working now.

Based on JPorter's comment, I went back to check the hotfix instructions more carefully which are as follows: Installation Instructions: 1. Go to folder C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2018\Map 2. Backup file AcMapFeatureEntityUI.arx 3. replace AcMapFeatureEntityUI.arx with the ones in hotfix package. 4. Launch Map 3D. As you see, it states to place the .arx fix file in the "Map" folder of AutoCAD 2018, not the C3D folder or, as JPorter has suggested, in the Map 3D folder. So, I removed the .arx file from my C3D folder and placed it in the Map folder. I then checked to make sure I could still add multiple points to polylines without selecting and deselecting and it works perfectly. So, no "missing step", just a failure to read carefully on my part.

Glad my experience helped. I hope you also saw my latest post regarding the
placement of the hotfix .arx file in the "Map" folder versus the "C3D"
folder. Note that I am not referring to the "Map 3D" folder which you may
also have if you are running Map 3D 2018. I am talking about the "Map"
folder within the 2018 AutoCAD folder. Had I read the instructions (below),
I would have found the "Map" folder which contains the old .arx they refer
to in the instructions. After moving the .arx file from the C3D folder to
the Map folder, I was still able to edit polylines without selecting and
deselecting. I also think that if you are using Map 3D, having the hotfix
.arx file in the "Map" file will ensure that you don't have the problem when
using Map 3D. Good luck and glad to hear you are the hero of the office.
Long may you keep your crown!

1. Go to folder C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2018\Map

2. Backup file AcMapFeatureEntityUI.arx

3. replace AcMapFeatureEntityUI.arx with the ones in hotfix
package.

4. Launch Map 3D.
