Geolocation Aerial map not working Civil 3D 2017

I'm using civil 3D 2017, and i'm trying to open the aerial map in a Infraworks exported file, but the image doesnt show up. I swear i tried every single solution that i found here, but none of them worked.

What i'm doing is:

On Infraworks: Generate a model > Find a plce > Export imx file > Choose an area

On Civil 3D: Insert tab > On infraworks icon > Open infrawork model. Then, when the surface is there i try to turn the aerial map but when i change nothing happens. The ''BING'' logo is showing, but that's the only thing that display.

Solutions that i already tried: Reinstall all autodesk apps

- Sign out and in on my civil 3d account on civil 3D software

- Sign out and in on my accounts on browser related to autodesk

- Cleaned my internet info

- Reinstall only A360

- Turn on the hardware acceleration

- Install the Hotfix

I'm attaching a screenshot.

Arthur,

OK, from QGIS(You can open ANYTHING in QGIS) I exported a CSV file of the Existing Ground Points in <<<EPSG 32723>>> Coordinates. Drag-n-Drop the attached Shapefile into a Blank drawing and you'll be able to turn on Bing Live Maps. So I think the disconnect is with InfraWorks-to-C3D Workflow. (Maybe)

I'm going right now to watch your linked video.

Dave,

Thanks for the help, but i've never used Coordinates with points before, i always got the surface ready with contours from Infraworks.

About the file, i dropped in a black drawing just as u said, the points showed up but the Geolocation Tab didnt display. And what do i do with those points? They can create a surface with elevations by doing something?

Arthur,

OK, now we're getting somewhere. After Drag-n-Dropping that Shapefile into a blank drawing, you should be able to turn on Bing Live Maps and see this:

IMX-5.png

Since you don't, the problem is with Bing Live Maps.

As for the CSV Points, those become Map Features when you Drag-n-Drop them. (Same as _MAPCONNECT). To create a Surface, you add that included CSV file to your Surface Definition.

As a thoroughly unrelated observation, when Jeff added that tree in InfraWorks, I immediately wondered if you could add a 20-story tall Godzilla.Smiley Very Happy

@Pointdump and @ArthurADas,

After Dave hit on the units setting in Civil 3D I did a little more digging. For some goofy reason, you must assign your coordinate system BEFORE you import your IMX file.

1. Start new drawing with METRIC template (Using the wrong template and changing the Civil 3D units afterwards confuses the poor little program)

2. It you do NOT know the CS of the incoming IMX file, begin to attach it - write down the CS and CANCEL.

3. Type MAPCSASSIGN - type in the CS from the IMX file

4. Attach the IMX file

5. Turn on BING maps - everything works

I have the feeling that the acceptance of the Infraworks CS directly into C3D is a little messed p.

Warren,

Yup. Here's what happens when you _MAPCSASSIGN the UTM84-23S Coordinate System to an Imperial (Feet) Drawing:

I'm trying your suggestion, but i'm stuck in the ''Type MAPCSASSIGN - type in the CS from the IMX file'' part, where is this CS from the IMX?

When you use the Open Infraworks Model command the coordinate system will be at the top of the dialog box (in this case it was UTM84-23S).

Then Cancel that dialog - and in Civil 3D at the command line type the command "MAPCSASSIGN". In the SEARCH window - type the CS you found (Again, in this case it was UTM84-23S)

Arthur,

I tried to add one of these attached Sketchup Godzillas to a Sample InfraWorks Model, but was unable to make him "stick" in the model.
