Drawing looks small when I scale it 1/16" = 1'

Hello,

I am a student and I was given strict requirements of having a paper space of 24"x32" and a scale of 1/16" = 1'. My drawing on my layout however looks really small. It looks nothing close to what sample drawings my professor posted.

You are drawing AutoCad Architectural, not Civil3D Engineering.

Your drawing units are Feet when instead of inches. To fix your drawing, here are two choices:

  1.  Open a new drawing using Revit (where the drawing units 'drawing units' are feet) then start over. I'm guessing you opened a template using Civil 3D, the default drawing units are feet when using C3D, when you meant to open a template using Revit where Revit's default drawing units are inches.
  2. Change your drawing units in your current drawing. Go to command line, enter DWGUNITS=>ENTER 1 (for inches) => continue (you may select the default values for the rest of the options. Refer to image below.

It would be better to start over in Revit so you'll have AutoCad's architecutural 'styles' such as dim styles.

I don't have revit or use it. I've tried doing the same thing in civil 3d but the same thing happens.

What version of AutoCad are you using?

  • Plain vanilla AutoCad
  • Civil 3D
  • I don’t know

OK. You can do this. Shut down AutoCad.

Reopen AutoCAD but this time do this:

Go to START button=>Autodesk Civil 3D 20XX=>Civil 3D as AutoCAD 20XX.
