I would miss the post numbering system.

It is helpful to refer someone e.g. "look at the picture in post 17 of this thread".

I can't see the post numbers anymore.

It is not guaranteed, but at least you up the odds of having an intelligent conversation when talking to yourself.

Almost seriously, being on the "B" list, I see the old format and can tell you that this is a response to post 42.

Old or new, A or B, 50 or 50, post numbers, referencing, and threading could use improvement.

In addition to my my previous vouching for a Dynamo style forum to be incorporated here, there are few other things that should be added here:

There they have a superior method of viewing images. Already open and easily viewable. No additional dialog needed. Should be cake on mobile.

As one scrolls down the page, the post number, total number of posts and date appear at the same time. Very slick and efficient with a easy way to see the date of the original post as well as the time of the most recent reply along the top and bottom of the right hand side. Of importance <adjusts spectacles> to me, is that the Dynamo forum, both on the main/title page as well as any post one looks at, it shows up entirely filled on a screen. This and more makes Dynamo the template to follow.

At the Dynamo forum they use colored boxes to denote whether a topic is Revit or Civil 3D related, for example. Is it heresy to suggest the 3 (Main, Customization & Ideas) existing forums be rolled in to one? Sometimes mingling is good.

Lastly, at the Dynamo forum they have a specific thread/topic for feedback on a particular add-on or a third party package used under Dynamo, i.e. Camber. Users give their comments/critiques and others chime in and do give answers that resolve some issues (just like it happens here). Often the developers will respond when they realize that there is indeed an actual defect and in situations where there is a critical defect that needs immediate attention, such as the MLEADERLAYER issue that happened a half a year ago, we should have the ability to post about major defects in a public forum (so that others who are affected can see something similar is being felt by others) and to not have to resort to opening cases with Adesk (p.s. I have never done so) . To be partially fair, there have been some recent post where I've seen official replies to certain posts that resolves some of those problems. The point I'm trying to make is that there should be a public forum to which we can post to, if all other methods have not resolved a particular and genuine defect that users may be experiencing and that should be replied to "officially" by an Adesk representative and thereby colored and notated as such.

Hi everyone, I wanted to pop in and set the expectation that I am OOO from 11/25 until 12/2 (just me, not the developers or designers), so responses may be a little delayed, but that they are still reading these threads and compiling the feedback.

Also, shortly you will see an invite go up on this thread - the teams have offered to do an Office Hours, so you can ask questions and direct feedback to the Product and UX teams for the Forums A/B test. This is the first time we've done one of these in the 6 years I have been on the Community Team, and I appreciate their willingness to do so! The Office Hours will be Q&A style with a set timeframe on this post that they will be answering questions live to. The Q&A will be located on the main feedback thread we have: https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/community-announcements/we-re-testing-a-new-forums-experience-feedbac...

The Office Hours will be the week of December 2nd, and the times are TBA, but they will be posting on the main feedback thread shortly with that information. When we have the set time and date I will also be cross-posting it to the other threads across the forums, so they are aware too.

Thank you for your feedback, direct examples of things that aren't working for you, and your sentiment. Apologies that I am out of office, but know that the replies are still being read and that I will catch up with specific users when I am back.

@amanda.k

Have a good time off. I think the designers are being helpful. Thank them but tell them to hold onto their britches.

I remember in the way-back when major changes were being contemplated. The designers would set up a stage and invite some of us to do preliminary testing under different credentials than our normal login. I alway thought everyone got a lot out of that without randomly subjecting users to the changes.

BTW. I haven't seen the new layout except in posted screenshots. So I don't have too much to comment on.

Have a Happy

Every time I open the forum, I see this post first.

I understand it's "trending", but that does not help people posting for the first time looking for help, which is what a forum is for.

The "Trending" tab is a terrible idea as the default view. Give me the "Newest" first like the old format, then give me the option to see what is trending. This isn't social media.

I've opened the forum less since the change, I cannot be bothered clicking multiple options just to see what I want to see every time, in the same way the Windows makes a simple task take multiple clicks, when it used to be one or two.

Many of the issues outlined in this thread I agree with; wasted space, post numbers....

Any idea when this new format is going to go away from the test? I've been testing it way too long. I don't peruse the forums like I used to with this update because it's so hostile to desktop users, has less information, and is generally not a good UI compared to the "old" format.

Doesn't help that Autodesk deleted more than a decade worth of posts that had many answers to questions about software that Autodesk barely changes.

So it's official now, right? It's still messed up for me and what they claim was fixed based on feedback doesn't look like was done. I'm basically out of the forums now. I'll lurk, but not much point in posting when Autodesk will just delete them and ignore their users.

At least they are consistant in doing it the "Autodesk way" of changing things no one's asked for while ignoring user feedback! 😄

The next step would be to introduce a forum roadmap and an ideas-section that can then be consistently forgotten about!

Its just so much wasted white space. So little content filling the screen.    And now I can't escape it. It's my home machine and work machine now.

It is quite horrendous - it's good they listened to all the feedback from the users regarding this...🙄
