Description Key - Symbol issue

The symbol I use for tree trunk has text with masked drawing background color inside of circle.  However, when the point comes in with a description key, the background for the text is red - so the text is just a black blob.  Is there a way to change the background colors, I am assuming, in the description keys?

Example:  the "10" on the left is the symbol, then "10" on the right is an imported point from a point file

Can you post a drawing, I'm sure someone will take a look at it and show you a fix.

I'm not seeing the issue on my system in the drawing you posted. I even checked the C10 block with D2.5 as the description and no visible mask. If were in plotting I would say it was something with the print driver, but as you have the problem on screen as well it has to be something in the system. Possibly in the visual style or view rotation.

Rather than embed the masked mtext in a block, you can edit your Point Label Style to include a text component for that 16" notation. Any label style component can have Background Mask turned on.

I have found if I go to my .dwg for the block and change the text mask to color "255", then reinsert the block, the mask stays "255".  I assume, somewhere in the bowels of the CAD program, there is a place to set the background color for blocks.  Finding this "unicorn" default, however, is beyond me.
