I deleted lines on a project I am working on and came across a few problems,
1st - I had lines that I could not delete leaving lines in the middle of my lake.
2nd - I have pockets of nothing in it inside the area where i deleted the lines.

I believe that if you turn on the TIN lines and turn off the border, you will be able to remove the outer TIN line. This should adjust the TIN the way you want. If the other triangle is a "hole" you can ADD lines to the TIN to adjust it. You can also remove a TIN line to if it is an "island" in your surface. Hope this helps.

I had exactly the same problem -. As Dale says, turning off the border in your surface styles is the solution. The other way I found (if for some reason you want to leave borders on) is to make sure you delete lines from the border inwards in sequence not leaving any undeleted lines on the way, that way the border follows you in correctly. Another thing I experimented with was adding boundaries (i.e. a feature line for the entire perimeter of your surface) to the surface definition which seems to allow you to avoid deleting extraneous lines altogether.
