DATUM SURFACE EXTENDING BEYOND EXISTING GROUND

I used generic subassemblies from corridor: 1. LaneSuperElevationAOR, 2. ShoulderExtendAll and 3. Custom Daylight Benching for cut and fill volumes,

when creating the cross section, the datum surface does not stop at the existing ground, but it extends beyond it. color yellow dashed line is my datum surface, and red dashed line is my existing ground.

thats why when computing materials, the calculated volumes for cut and fill are larger than the actual.

after you create surface from corridor, then you need to check boundary in your corridor properties,

1. this is before I add boundary , see my road surface it like this

2. then right click at your corridor and then select "Corridor extents as outer boundary" then my corridor surface will trim outer boundary, it become like this.

in my sample drawing file, i already selected  "Corridor extents as outer boundary" , what are the other possible errors? is it in my subassembly?

Hi @jeeardiente2  your corridor has bowties issue, then you need to clear corridor bowties

after you do "Clear Corridor Bowties" then your corridor should be like this , see in the section view, it already fix

I get from your sample drawing file and use another subassembly for cut and fill daylight (DaylightBench) and use same parameter as you add in your subassembly, I can't check you subassembly as your pkt file save in your local machine

anyway, I upload this sample file from my side that not yet clear bowties , later you can try it.

Hi @jeeardiente2 , you can follow step workflow like this

1. first, select your corridor and take out Rebuild-Automatic

2. zoom to your assembly, and then select your subassembly, then right click, then select Change Subassembly PKT File (this function able for version 2024 up)

3. so the same thing for another side,

4. go to corridor properties to make sure that your surface target able to select , after that Rebuid your corridor

5. go to corridor properties in Boundary tap, removed previous boundary and re-add boundary

6. after that your DATUM surface should be OK like this
