Hi @nostupidquestions

if you want to simply remove the data shortcut from the data shortcut portion of the toolspace (i.e. shortcuts that you have created but not referenced in the drawing) you can simply right click on it and choose remove.

you can also repath shortcuts that you have already referenced in your drawing. You can do so by going to the manage tab on the ribbon/data shortcuts panel. Then choose manage data shortcuts; this will open a dialog box of data references in your drawing on the left and the data shortcuts available in your current working project folder on the right, you can select the two that should be the same thing from each side and hit the remap button in the middle between the two columns.

here is a link for more information on fixing broken dat referenced:

hope this helps,

they don't show up in the manager, only the editor.

it's sort of related. i was trying to see if the editor had any effect on keeping the paths correct. it doesn't seem to.

Unlike the AutoCAD External Reference manager, the data shortcut editor does not have the ability to repath shortcuts!

Hi..

Yeah that's rt.. data shortcut manager doesn't allow to delete a path.. its function only to update the elements with another referenced data.

Like Samir said earlier, if you wanted to delete, you should do it from tool space- under data shortcut and expand which element - rt click and choose remove from the short cut menu.

And, if wanted to bring that element to the current drawing, select promote.

See attached picture.

@nostupidquestions

In Datashorcut editor you can find and replace the path or correct the path.

if you want to delete the incorrect paths may be you can sue command MANAGEDATASHORTCUTS. Also you can get this option under Manage Tab. see the attached image for reference.

Another method is open the drawing file which had incorrect path<<click on datashortcuts right click<<click on set working folder<<and choose any different or irrespective path to remove the incorrect path.

I use this method for sometimes and this method is only used for one drawing not for multiple drawings.

Hi Neil,

Just not about the subject above but to take your attention, did you worked with pipe networks data short cuts as in roads?

Always, I get layout labels and profile disappearing while updating pipe network through data short cut manager.

@Sinoj.Ravindran,

You can post it separately so that others can discuss and once we found solution and conclusion can accept as a solution which will helps others.

Yes i have worked on infrastructure projects (Subdivision Design) and used datashortcuts method for both roads and pipe networks.

Regarding issue of synchronization on pipe networks,

make sure that you have installed the fix available for for pipe network reference issues, this is required and works for civil 3d version from 2018 to 2020. If you have installed and everything is upto date then will try with these,

1. Audit the drawing if there is any errors in the drawing it will fix the errors.

2. Purge and -Purge<<Regap option.

3. In the sheet file make sure that data shortcuts is properly done with set working folder and project folder is assigned correctly and also shortcut project is assigned with current sheet file or drawing file.

4. Validate the datashortcuts.

5. After applying step 1 to 4 issue not resolved, go to civil 3d model or source drawing, check the reference path remove old shortcut files and recreate the reference and save the file and close, now go to sheet file open the drawing and try to synchronize the reference or enter command SYNCHRONIZEREFERENCES. Also check and play with PIPENETWORKSYNCMODE variables.

Feel free to share the file so that can have a look properly and find the solution.

I recommend you to ETRANSMIT the drawing if in case of sharing here or in Inbox.
