Data Shortcut File Path

I have a drawing with an existing ground surface from a data shortcut.

The location of the working folder or the data shortcut folder has been misplaced.

The existing ground surface is still linked and can synchronize properly, however I am unable to determine the source drawing for this data shortcut.

It seems weird that I just can right-click something to find out the source path of data shortcut references.

Hello,

If you go to your Working Folder and find the object in it you may be able to open it with Notepad, XML Notepad, IE and see where the original file is coming from. You need to look for XML file. For instance if you are looking for Surface go in Surface directory and open XML file. This is one easy way.

I hope this helps.

But the location of the working folder or the data shortcut folder has been misplaced do I have no 'objects' listed in my working folder in the toolspace. I do not know where the data shortcut xml file is to open it. I tried a windows search for *.xml but I was unable to locate it.

My toolspace prospector shows

"Data Shortcuts []"

and is not populated because I do not know the location of the data shortcuts folder due to a massive file migration.

Oldy enough though, the data shortcut existing ground surface still functions with the little data shortcut icon arrow.

This is an old post but I recently ran into a similar issue. If you display the datashortcut (in this case a surface) and right-click on the surface in model space an option to 'Open Source Drawing' is available. From the source drawing you can track down the path easily.

Cheers,

Caleb
