Creating Surface from GEOTIFF DEM

Can someone give me a simple work through on combining a GeoTIFF file and a DXF file into one file on Autodesk?

To import a DEM or GeoTIFF surface in Civil 3D:

  1. In the Prospector, right-click on Surfaces and select Create Surface from DEM…
  2. Browse and select the surface to import. You have the choice of importing... DEM, GeoTIFF, ESRI ASCII GRID (.asc), ESRI ASCII GRID (.txt), ESRI BINARY GRID (.adf).

Assuming your dxf is linework representing breaklines:

 

Create a TIN Surface. Do not Create Surface from DEM as this will disallow adding of breaklines.

Add the .TIF to this surface as a data source. 

Insert the dxf after having made it into a dwg.

Add those objects as breaklines.
