Creating points on an alignment using a profile

I set points on an alignment utilizing the finished grade profile.  I'm surprised to find the point elevations are not dynamic and change if the profile is manipulated.  Is it possible I'm not doing it correctly?

I don't believe there's anything native to C3D to do what you what but Pt2Profile (quuxsoft.com) in Sincpac may help or @Jeff_M may have another suggestion.

I don't believe any cogo points operations are dynamic to another object, correct me if I'm wrong.  I tried creating cogo points from corridor and using the crown point.  Same issue, when the corridor changes the points just stay the same.

This would be nice to have for people creating staking drawings.

Using the DynamicLinking of points in the Sincpac will help with this.

Hi,

With the current settings in Civil 3D the easiest way to achieve your task is settings the elevations on points using a surface. So my suggestion is as follows.

Put all your points (created from profile) in a point group

Create a dummy corridor and a corridor surface using the alignment and profile.

Make the corridor rebuilt automatic

When you do any changes to the profile;

Right click on point group --> Select (To select all the points inside group)

Right click again -->Elevations from surface --> Select the corridor surface
