Hi Everyone.

I'm new to Road Design and I need to create an assembly form a road section.
I have made assemblies before, but the road sections were much easier to do.

Can I please ask if someone can please help me in the right direction on how to do the assemblies for the attached 2 Road Sections.

EDIT: .DWG fille attached

Hi @Wessel_OosthuizenVKBPG

Are you talking about only for the orange ditches out side of road or for full typical section?

The attachment is in low quality snapshot and can't read the requirement (geometry etc...)

Anyway, in general these type of typical sections can be produced with the build in subassemblies or with custom subassembly to fit 100% to your requirements (personally i am using my custom subassemblies made by SAC).

This will be for the full typical section. I will share a .dwg file with what I have.

As you will also see the first 2 layers are above the NGL, how do I incorporate this into the corridor design? Will this be controlled by my profile?

Yes.  The start point of the section will be based on the horizontal alignment for the horizontal position and the profile elevation for the vertical position.

There are probably hundreds of youtube videos that would help better than any post you'll ever find in the forum.

Here's a link that should help.

What is the slope being used for the 1.0m section outside of the 4% slope?  does it vary to whatever it needs to be to hit the existing grade, which is never going to be level, or is it something that is constant and just goes to the bottom of the foundation layer based on the center line of the road?

A level subgrade is not the best idea from a design stand point.  the whole idea of having a slope on it is to get the water that gets under the foundation layer to have a way to get out from underneath the road.  Water under a road is bad.

If you really must do this, you might need to look into a custom subassembly that lets you change the slope of the subgrade to be different than that of the pavement.  Or, there may be a different type of subassembly that has this ability already built into it.

Have you run this section through your roadway to see how it compares to how you expect it to look or work?
