Code`s labels on section view

Hi,

Can you help me to find where I can steer which codes I want to show on section view ?

While showing all codes from my assembly labels are just not visible and I`d like to show only a few of them.

Dear Friend,

Go to corridor properties and select codes tab.

select Edit the code set style 

Add labels where you need them.

Label style in Code Set Style control only labels on section and I`d like to also control labels in bands.

When I go to Section View Properties I can edit Band`s Styles and turn on/off the visibility of labels, but I don`t have any control over Codes I`d like show in my bands. 

I`ve also noticed that there are more thicks and labels than grade breaks on my sections. Any idea where do they come from ?

I`d like to only have thicks and labels that match pink lines.

In your profile view band there is a band which cater for existing ground elevations. In that band set surface 1 to corridor surface and surface 2 to existing ground. However this depends on the settings of your template. If you can upload a sample dwg others can check it.

While creating section views I always set up for all bands as surface 1 corridor top surface and for surface 2 EG.

Using the markedpoint sub gives a certain degree of feedom from the OOTB code sets

I know how to add Marked Points to my Subassemblies but how can I make them the only codes visibile in the bands under the sections views ?

Not sure you can. If you can the codes you define would be in the style composer.

I think, could be wrong, the data bands in a section are similar to profile and can only access profiles.  They can not access data directly from your corridor.

The data you want on a band, you will need to build a corridor surface (using proper link codes) then access that surface via. the data bands.

Hi,

From what I can understand, you are wanting to add the point codes into your data bands?

One way to achieve this is to use a combination of Section Code Set Styles (General - Multipurpose Styles - Code Set Styles) and custom Marker styles (General - Label Styles - Marker) that anchors to the bottom of the graph view, working downwards.

You will also need to ensure that the 'CORRIDORSECTIONLABELSCONV' command is set to 'Code set style labels' in order for this to work correctly

Im following up on this, as for years I've been frustrated with Civil3D Cross Section labeling in the Bands.

The code set label approach is fine for design labels but what is also typically needed is the existing levels and offset distances to be at those same locations. So four bands in all 2 for design lvls/offsets and 2 for existing lvls/offsets. The grade break labels is not a workaround as at areas where the sample lines are not perpendicular to assemblies (junctions) you get far too many , kerb beveled edges, anywhere there's the slightest grade change, you get them all bunched on top of each other.

So why can we not have an option to place existing labels at set locations from a corridor section. Surely this cant be beyond the software

I agree completely, that's why I have developed a tool through the API (for the local ANZ market) that will apply code labels, design surface levels, existing surface and offset labels at user-defined codes through a corridor section. Not only does it apply labels to the data bands at corridor points, it also staggers the text to remove overlaps.

It's very much a 'use at your own risk' tool, but i'm happy to share. It's actually bundled into the ANZ Country Kit for 2019.

By creating your own subassemblies with codes and preapring Code Set Style for section views we can have the full control of labels showing up on section views. For more information I refer you to Jeff Bartels video:
