Civil 3D Table Settings (ROW HEIGHT)

Hey Everybody I searched all these boards and found a couple posts on this but no answers. Is there a way to change the row height in Civil 3D Created Tables (What I'm working with is Parcel Line and Curve Tables). I don't see any options in the styles or table properties menus and changing it in the general autocad tablestyles menu does nothing. Thanks for the help!

your answer only works for non-dynamic tables, or for tables you manually type into.

this question specifically stated its for civil 3d created tables (example: click alignment > create line/curve tables) and then its a table that civil 3d autofilled information for.

i too am trying to adjust row height for a pipe network and it's not giving me the option anywhere at all.

i am super confused with all the replies. they link to an ideastation however that ideastation does not seem to address the initial question. i just wanna change row height. where is the answer? row width is easy! howcome we get to control row width and not row height? see screenshot. i am having trouble telling if any of the comments/replies actually are the answer to the question.

There is no way in the current product to change row height in Civil 3D tables. The links to the Idea Station is a separate forum that provides Autodesk with feedback for possible new features. Folks on this post are hoping everyone votes for this idea (adjusting Civil 3D table row height) becomes a new feature.

We're coming up on a year since the last update, have you heard anything from your team members regarding this issue? Any plans for next release?

After years of posting and starting 2023 we were hoping that this rather minor change could be made in the latest update. However it appears that we still have not been able to affect change. To my knowledge there are only complicated time consuming work arounds. We still cant change the height of line, curve, or coordinate tables.

Absolutely correct. Replies 62 (my own) and 63 (@Anonymous) are the work-a-rounds that I have been using. My own more often than not only because I've been doing it so long it doesn't take all that much time for me, but I've been considering trying out the export option to bring it back into an editable table more than my own method. Either way, both options remove the ability to display the dynamic results of the tables and require the technician to keep track of the changes one way or another to update the static tables.

I'm not a programmer or developer by any means, so I won't pretend to have any insight as to how "minor" of an update this would be for the AutoDesk team... BUT... If this was actively being worked on, I feel like this would have been taken care of long ago.

At any rate, it's up to the AutoDesk team to show how much they care/listen to feedback. At this point in time, we have 87 replies to this thread, and a whopping 2 from AutoDesk. There's not much else that needs to be said there.

Just downloaded Civil3D 2024.  Still no way to edit row height that I can see.  Am I missing it?

With the advent of project explorer I doubt we will ever see improvement here, which would be fine if you could set your project explorer table settings to use index colors rather than rgb values.  Only way to make a project explorer table print properly is to either change all the colors after creation, or set the true color to black, which doesn't work when you use dark mode.

TBH at this point I hope it doesn't get fixed. This is thread is the most stable thing in my life, I can always count on it coming back around once or twice a year.

Greetings bloated table users. The politically correct thing would be simply to accept these overweight tables, for their beauty, and move on. However, the creators of the data, sometimes need a skinny version of the table to be able to convey the data without causing additional sheets to be created. Autodesk this is now a green initiative; you clearly do not love the visually concise presentation of data, or the planet (in that we need to create additional sheets to convey the same data). Put your fat tables on a diet, save the planet, quit ruining my life. 

This was the latest from Autodesk....  4-22 - "On this issue, yes, we have good news that this feature will be enhanced in the upcoming version". WHERE PRAY DO WE FIND THIS IN 2024??????????? NOPE! How much code time could this possibly take? You already have the code; you just need to move it to the annotation table window and call it good. Way to follow through on a promise. Till next year... or version....

No disrespect to you personally here. Talk is cheap, it's a shame your software is not. We are on the hook each year for thousands of dollars just to have the latest and greatest. The program should address and fill the needs of the subscribers especially when those needs are manifest over many years as this one has. Each year (or sooner) you all march out new versions of expensive software full of nonsense "improvements" that only 5% of us truly need/use. When someone presents a legit need and seemingly a simple one at that it is wholly ignored. Since you only now claim to understand the issues after 17 years of complaints, I must ask, was this now years old complaint ambiguous? Why are you only now getting this issue in a Eurika moment?? Is this really the best you can do? Sorry it's past time to get this done, instead of the perfunctory word salad that really does nothing for anyone. I get it, you're not a code writer... that is someone else's job. Get this fixed and at that point you will have earned some thanks, which I'm sure all on this thread will readily give. I'll be the first to wave the Autodesk flag and buy the t-shirt...until then, this answer rings pretty hollow. I would like to know what will you do personally to make sure that whoever is in charge of this, understands the problem and is highly motivated to fix it in the next update? Or will it wither in the suggestion box, in the corner of the room where the Clovis or Marcell Ledbetter code writers, check it every three years? Or in this case 17 years, since 2006.........I mean seriously......🙄

Well said Taze. I know I have certainly injected my own sarcasm and frustration into this thread a couple times over the last few years, but it is true. Underneath said sarcasm and, mainly, the frustration there is the driving desire for this issue to actually be addressed shared by all of us here. What appears to be quite honestly a simple fix (relatively) to a major oversight has been either ignored, or apparently misunderstood for all this time, which does add more to the frustration. I am happy we got another reply, but until we see substance the tone of this thread will likely not change, nor should it. Once we see action on Autodesk's part, I will be right there with you and hastily give my sincere thanks and gratitude.

Largely I just hope that the next issue that is brought up doesn't get this same treatment after all the tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars that has been sunk into this program over the years by us and our companies who rely on this program to keep the construction and design industry running. In my opinion AutoCAD is the best program on the market for my needs, and if it wasn't the only realistic option I have I would have jumped ship long ago. Hopefully they will start acting like developers of the best program on the market here on out.

Autodesk has relied upon purchasing a 3rd party software, Project Explorer, to address this issue. The Idea that Autodesk marked as implemented wasn't implemented at all. AutoCAD tables and MTEXT cannot read C3D object data, which is what the Idea requested.

Project Explorer only partially implemented the Idea in the ability to create an AutoCAD table that can reference some object data. If the table is manually edited at all then when the table needs updating you lose everything you did. 

But at least row heights can be changed after 22 years. 🙄
