Civil 3d Stormwater Analysis

Hi, I am currently in the process of negotiating training in Civil 3d at my office, where we already use a competing package for Civil/Stormwater Design. I am wondering if SSA has the "ILSAX" runoff method out of the box? Or is it still only rational? Most training i've seen only offers basic pit & pipe and nothing beyond that. Thanks

Hi

SSA can do most things, overland flow paths, culvert pipe networks, pump station is basically and improved GUI with the SWMM type calculation engineer as i understand it. Attached is a screen capture of the calculation methods available.  It does not have ilsax available

From what I read here it not to different to EPA Swmm methods and others available so maybe able to work for you.

Check out these resources on SSA at the Autodesk Uni site they are some of the better ones I have found and used to teach myself over the years how to use the program.

SSA will not automatically size pipes for you if you want to do that you will need to look at the new gravity design engineer built into 2020 which I have not used or some of the available 3rd party addon's like Civil Site Design or iDAS out of South Africa. CSD does basic rational and will export to Drains and also C3D pipe network, iDAS works with C3D pipes and uses a SWMM style design engine and can export to .inp files that can be brought into SSA.

Thanks Justin,

I had a little look inside one of the sample projects in SSA and it looks to be quite powerful, provided one has the knowledge on how to use it!

Thanks

Yes it can do most things maybe not the most use friendly software but you get it with Civil3d so may as well use it if you can.

One of the best models I have seen is the one at the 12:12 min mark in this video of a low pressure pumping system with about 28 pumps or something

Since Innovyze was recently purchased by Autodesk - I wanted to mention the Rafts Hydrology in InfoWorks ICM does have an ILSAX like hydrology for Australia.

Hello Fred,

Yes, we were bought by Autodesk in March but have been in transition during April.  I think today (a Saturday is our first official  Autodesk day - May 1st).

I would say I have an extensive experience rather than vast experience.  It should be interesting if I can remember any of my CAiCE VBA experience 20 years later. I did read the forum messages about the CAiCE and remember the SRV file at least.

Good to see you here - you have a very impressive track record in the forum!
