First check if any updates are need for autocad, graphics card (make sure your software version is compatible to your version of Autocad) or windows, and even if there is no update I save and restart the computer, next go to task manager and see if there are other programs that could be messing up autocad, I normally try to turn everything off anything that can be off. If I am being very thorough I do the following.:
AutoCad Changes:
Note: INSIDE AUTOCAD
- Set the AutoCAD system variable WHIPTHREAD to 3.
- Set the AutoCAD system variable LAYOUTREGENCTL to 2.
- Set the AutoCAD system variable SELECTIONPREVIEW to 2.
- Set the AutoCAD system variable SELECTIONCYCLING to 0.
- Set the AutoCAD system variable OSOPTIONS to 6.
- Set the AutoCAD system variable SAVEFIDELITY to 0.
- Set the AutoCAD system variable GRAPHCISCONFIG turn off hardware acceleration
- In Options under the Open and Save tab, turn off "Full-time CRC Validation"
- Close the Properties palette (CTRL+1).
Computer Changes:
WARNING: this will change the look of your computer, but make it faster
- For Windows Vista or 7, turn off Aero by changing your desktop theme to Windows Basic.
- Change your Visual Effects to "Adjust for Best Performance."
If none of these solutions work:
- Open up run, and type dxdiag, click the 64 bit mode button at the bottom.
- Set your system's virtual memory to maximum
- Update Graphics Card
- Confirm that you are using a supported Windows for the version of AutoCad
- Empty your Temp folder
- Reset AutoCAD to defaults
- If you use auto-save, modify the save location to its own folder on your local drive (SAVEFILEPATHsystem variable).
- Verify that the user has the proper permissions for running AutoCAD
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\AUTODESK
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AUTODESK
- Disable BitLocker.
- Remove third party plug-ins one by one and check if the crash persists.
- Create a new user account in Windows or delete and recreate the existing one.
- Reinstall the .NET Framework
- Reinstall Visual C++
- Turn off the Customer Involvement Program
- Turn off Desktop Analytics
- Uninstall and reinstall AutoCAD or do a complete clean reinstall
- Troubleshoot for conflicting programs and processes
- Troubleshoot for issues with Network hardware compatibility, settings, permissions, access rights, bandwidth, and operating system compatibility.
Hope this helps.
