What format do your Lidar data currently have?

If you Lidar Data already in RCS (ReCAP Scan Format), then you don't have to use RECAP. Simply use the Lidar Data using Command: _POINTCLOUDATTACH

if not, export the Lidar data to TXT File (to import Points as a surface) or create RCS Files with a Third Party Product (if you do not want to use ReCAP).

I do not miss going through recap. The DotSoft Lidar Tools is simple, user friendly and works great!

@TerryDotson

My only issue is that I can't figure out exactly which projection our Georgia, USA statewide LIDAR data is in.

Can you suggest the correct Zone?

I have attached the .prj file for the data.  This is puzzling me.

PROJCS["NAD_1983_2011_Contiguous_USA_Albers",GEOGCS["GCS_NAD_1983_2011",DATUM["D_NAD_1983_2011",SPHEROID["GRS_1980",6378137.0,298.257222101]],PRIMEM["Greenwich",0.0],UNIT["Degree",0.0174532925199433]],PROJECTION["Albers"],PARAMETER["False_Easting",0.0],PARAMETER["False_Northing",0.0],PARAMETER["Central_Meridian",-96.0],PARAMETER["Standard_Parallel_1",29.5],PARAMETER["Standard_Parallel_2",45.5],PARAMETER["Latitude_Of_Origin",23.0],UNIT["Meter",1.0]]

Any help would be welcome.  Thanks!

It looks to be a continental US based system.

Hi Max,
You won't find that coordinate system in Civil 3D. You'll have to add it to MAPCSLIBRARY. Use >>>MAPCSLIBRARYIMPORT<<< to import the attached XML definition.
