Civil 3D 2017 very slow

Hi,

My civil 3d performance is very slow, freezes often and have difficulties to print to PDF. I had my civil 3d re-installed, my Microsoft profile fixed, but it didn't help. My computer configuration: Processor Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1270 v5 @ 3.60Ghz; RAM 32GB; Videocard NVIDIA Quadro M2000

What would be the best computer configuration for Civil 3D 2017 and do you think better computer will help with these issues.

Thanks,

Sneja

It's hard for us to give you a definitive answer as there may be a variety of things happening. Many of these general performance issues stems from an issue that we addressed for Civil 3D R2015, 2016 and 2017.

There's a very good support solution here:

Key points:

  1. Install service packs (R2016/17) and hotfixes (R2014/15). Unfortunately the majority of Civil 3D users are not applying service packs...
  2. Once the latest service pack is applied files will need to be opened and saved. From that point on the performance issues will be resolved.
  3. However if someone opens/saves the file pre-service pack Civil 3D the performance/bloat issue will reoccur.

We've been working on a utility that will allow you to batch open/save files to streamline step 2. It'll also skip files that have already been opened/saved with the updated Civil 3D version. We'll post this to everyone once it's finalized.

Thanks
