Polyline command not smooth Civil 3D 2016

When using the polyline command the cursor wants to jump around, I have dynmode=0 and snapmode off. Is there something else I need to do to keep the cursor moving smoothly? It seems to be random so I can not pin point the exact cause but I have had to detach xrefs from the drawing to make the polyline command usable when there were 4 or 5 xrefs attached to my drawing.

I haven't experienced this issue at all using Civil 3d 2016.

Sounds like there may be some object snapping issues.

Are OSMODE and 3DOSMODE off?

Do your colleagues experience this issue in the same file?

Osmode is set to 9839

and 3dosmode is set to 138.

What should they be set to?

Try setting OSMODE = 0 and 3DOSMODE = 1 and retest with your xref's displayed.

Any change?

I don't see problem with OSMODE, but curious about 3DOSMODE, you have enabled "snaps to the closest point in point cloud" which is not necessary if you drawing doesn't have point cloud.

Can you recreate the behavior in AutoCAD vanilla profile in C3D ?

Start Menu -> All Programs -> Autodesk -> Civil 3D 2018, you have an option for "Civil 3D as Autocad"?

With OSMODE set to 9839, the following object snaps ARE active:

Endpoint

Midpoint

Center

Node

Intersection

Insertion

Nearest

Parallel

In the Graphic Performance dialog try disabling 'High Quality Geometry (for capable devices).
