Can't import point from file

When I imported point from file the program has automatic closing can anyone help me. I need this program to do my project in university.

P.S. All of my class are encounter this problem.

Hi,

Best thing would be upload the dwg or point file here.

Did you try with other point files.?

If the program closes probably that may be a software issue.

You can try the data by copying it to a seperate excel and save it as csv or what ever the point file format you use.

I try to use .csv and another but the program still close when i click
"ok" in import point window
and have many people in my group and other group have this problems

Seems like a software problem.

Try to save the file to a different format. Currently if you use csv then save it as a txt and import. 

Is this file too large with millions of points.? This can also cause crashes.

Also you can reset the program to defaults and check this. But be careful if you are doing this, because you may have customized settings in your Civil 3D.

Upload your point file. It could be a header or something that's causing the hiccup. Hard to say without looking at the file itself .

Your file is a point cloud. C3D cant do cloud data in the way your asking it to. Try recap anf decimate the data by about 70% and you'll probably get somewhere.

Yes,I think my file isn't a problem . Now I recorded my problem let see it.

and this problem isn't having with me only. It have with my many friend that use civilcad 3d 2018,2019 student license.

@wfberry, my observation: At about 40 seconds in, Civil 3D simply shuts down. Does not freeze, No error message, or shuts down. I have seen this behavior before. Usually it is a corrupt file requiring that I start over.

@Anonymous, it looks like you are starting with a new, empty drawing. Be sure it is based on a stock Civil 3D template. You may want to try a different template is one is available.

All the files imports without any problem to civil 3D 2019. Mostly the installation may have a problem if everyone gets this. As I said before I would suggest few options.

1. Use separate file format instead of txt such as csv.
2. Reset your software (be careful if you have custom settings)
3. Apply the updates/hot fixes to your civil 3D version. Both 20118 and 2019 has product updates.
4. Instead using same template try to use another one and check if fails with that too. If the template causes problems you can AUDIT/Recover the template to fix problems.

You should be using PENZD space delimited file format. The preview on the bottom should be correct or it won't import correctly.

That's TAB delimited. Change the Tabs to spaces and import as a PNEZD (space delimited) file
