How do you assign a coordinate system to your drawing so it'll be consistent with Bing Maps? Easy, assign your coordinate system then turn on Bing Maps. Here's a video that demonstrates how to assign Nevada State Plane, NAD83, East Zone, US Feet. (Your state and zone may vary.) Once you've assigned your coordiante system, simply turn on Bing Hybrid map (use the Hybrid version so you'll have aerial photography and street labels, both will assist in getting your bearings as you zoom-in and pan around). Turning on Bing Maps after you've assigned your CS replaces other, more complicated procedures, commonly used set up georeferencing.

After you have turned on Bing, a red geomarker will appear in modelspace. Using your mouse wheel to zoom-out gives you a wider view angle and makes it easier to find the geomarker. When you spot the marker, pan to it then zoom-in. Get in tight so you can read the labels provided by Bing Hybrid and to get your bearings.
