AutoCAD solids to multiple section views - Settings to show only Crossings

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am using C3d 2018 and I need to project AutoCAD solids to multiple (a lot) section views. All I want is the “Crossings”, or the solid sections. I don’t need the projections. I do not want to go in “Projection and Crossings” on each single section view to uncheck “Draw Projections” and removed labels.

I assume there is a command for this in the Settings tab (toolspace), but I can’t find it. Do someone know how to do that?

Thanks

It’s was so much easier in 2016 with a single check box to check… Progress...

the command is ProjectObjectstoMultiSect. Here's a screengrab to find it in the ribbon:SNAG-0019.png

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous,

I agree with @Kevin.Spear go to home tab and click Project Objects to Multiple Section View then select your sample lines. Just want to add more guidance to help you get to your specific request.

Assuming you already have sample lines, 3d solids and multiple cross sections. Then please follow the additional information below:

1 sample project mult section.jpg1 sample project mult section.jpg2 If you already have solids projected then choose an option.jpg2 If you already have solids projected then choose an option.jpg

Cheers,

Jowenn

OK, I missed was point 6 that brings "Projection and Crossing Output Display Options"... Easy then.

Is it possible to change and save the default values somewhere?

You can set the default styles, but they apply to everything that you would project initially. There isn't a Projection style set we can save based on object type.

To make these defaults, go to the Settings tab, right-click Section Views and choose Edit Feature Settings.SNAG-0022.png

In the dialog, set the appropriate highlights styles below as you want:

Then, when you project, those styles appear in the appropriate place:

Hope this helps!

Thanks

Hi @sebastien.gagnon and @Anonymous,

I agree with @Kevin.Spear and just want to further explain which default value affect it.

It is in the Settings Tab > Section View > Commands and being controlled by ProjectObjectsToMultiSect

Please see images for Scenario 1 and 2 to explain what I mean.

Scenario 1 - With Child Overwrite -A.jpgScenario 1 - With Child Overwrite -A.jpgScenario 1 - With Child Overwrite -B.jpgScenario 1 - With Child Overwrite -B.jpgScenario 1 - With Child Overwrite -C.jpgScenario 1 - With Child Overwrite -C.jpgScenario 2 - No Child Overwrite -A.jpgScenario 2 - No Child Overwrite -A.jpgScenario 2 - No Child Overwrite -B.jpgScenario 2 - No Child Overwrite -B.jpgScenario 2 - No Child Overwrite -C.jpgScenario 2 - No Child Overwrite -C.jpg

Cheers,

Jowenn

One more question.

How to you snap to the projected objects? I can snap only to a few places. I would like to snap on the visible objects (with usual object snaps) on the section plane.

Thanks
