I am trying to create a new part in part builder but can not add a path to an arc geometry. Does somebody know why?

I can't tell you why but it doesn't seem to want to create that sweep anymore. It creates it in the Content Explorer but doen't draw it. Not too handy when you have nothing to select to join all your solids up. i'm not sure what you are building but I was building a clean-out. My work-around was to use a straight segment instead to represent the 45 degree bend.

I know it's possible based on this tutorial that I reference a lot when working in Part Builder.

Have you tried it lately? That document is dated back to 2007. I know it worked back then. It's not doing it now.

I haven't specifically tried to path an arc lately, but I've done a lot of custom Part Builder work in C3D 2014. I know there are some issues in 2015 and I haven't fully tested 2016 yet. If you could, post your files so we could have a look.

I've built a lot of custom parts myself. In fact, I taught a class on Part Builder in 2010. You could sweep down an arc's path back then.

Agreed, using an Arc to sweep seemed to work right up to R2013 but it now appears to be broken in 2015 (didn't actually ever use 2014 for much so can't comment).

I have parts created in R2013 which work fine but are now broken in 2015.

I think this is a bug as I believe there were some problems fixed in the part builder calcalator etc in the 2015 Service pack 2, looks like something got tripped up.

Below screenshot, Left Civil3d 2013 (Sp2) Right Civil3d 2015 (Sp2) same parts but no sweep in 2015.

There's functionality that worked in 2009, broken in 2010, and is still broken. When I was doing a lot of work in part builder, I had to keep a version of Civil 3D 2009 on my computer for just that functionality.

You should check out Project Kameleon. It's technology that has the potential to replace part builder.

No new news really.

The case was closed and handed to the Devlopment team. I hadn't looked at R2016 (not installed at work yet). I expected it to be a problem in R2016 as well (due to RC being out when bug found) so didn't bother looking.

Hope it's fixed soon it's holding me back from using R2015 and now seemingly R2016, Still working with R2013 here which works correctly, hence how I found the bug. Transfering my parts from 13 to 15. It's going to be hard for my Employer to validate paying out for software we can't use (Three versions now).

Brian, I have been looking at PK but can't really say any more. It's geared more for the Dark side of Civil design (Infra Works) and not for a true design package.

As I said erlier, as it's a Beta I wouldn't use it in any live projects just yet.

I hoping this issue works in 2018, I am trying to create a cleanout with a wye and a 1/8 bend that need an arc but in 2014-2016 you cannot create the path modifier to create the solid has any body been able to create this in part builder for 2018?

I haven't tried it but I wouldn't hold my breath for it. There were things that worked in 2009 that were broken in 2010 that are still broken.

Project Kameleon has graduated from Labs and is a full fledged program now. It is installed with InfraWorks. There's supposed to be a connection to Civil 3D to allow the Kameleon parts to be imported into Civil 3D but I'm not positive that's been implemented yet.
